King Bhumibol Adulyadej Birthday Commemoration Day (public holiday)
King Rama IX (King Bhumibol Adulyadej) was born on December 5 and this date is a public holiday in Thailand. The date is also celebrated as Father’s Day, and National Day.
8-17 December
River Kwai Bridge Festival and Red Cross Fair, Kanchanaburi
The annual River Kwai Bridge Festival and Red Cross Fair is held in Kanchanaburi in late November until early December with a light and sound show illuminating the famous bridge.
9 December to 30 April 2024
Thailand Biennale, Chiang Rai
The international art exhibition is being hosted in the northern province of Chiang Rai. Featuring works from local and international artists, Chiang Rai will be a hub of creativity throughout the Biennale.

Constitution Day (public holiday)

Concert in the Park, Bangkok
A series of outdoor concerts are usually held in Bangkok during the cool season months. Starting in December and going through until the end of February, the free concerts are hosted by the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra at Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park.
31 December
New Year’s Eve (public holiday)
Firework displays are held in a number of Thai cities to welcome in the New Year. The biggest event takes place in Bangkok over the Chao Phraya River (details for this year’s event are not yet confirmed). New Year’s Eve is also a time when Thai Buddhists attend merit-making ceremonies at their local temple.
