Khun Chootima, please tell us a little bit about yourself
I have been working in the spa industry since 2004, as spa retail product development and in operations at many leading Spas in Egypt, Portugal and South Korea before moving to Phuket.
Please describe a typical day for you
Morning at COMO Shambhala Retreat will be busy organising the complimentary yoga classes for our in-house guests. It’s always lots of fun in the morning with most of our guests full of energy when they arrive at the yoga class or the gym. Later in the morning we handle more online reservations and spa consultations with our in-house guests. The entire afternoon is devoted to spa training and monitoring spa products and supplies.

What can guests expect when they visit?
COMO Point Yamu promotes a sense of healthful living. We are located on the Yamu Cape which has a 360 degree view of Phuket Bay and Phang Nga Bay. We make sure our guests eat well with COMO Shambhala Cuisine. Our guests are also encouraged to try new experiences from various activities including beginner yoga, Hatha Yoga, Tai Chi and beginner boxing. Other activities enjoyed by our guests are bike tours around Yamu village, flower arranging, and our Thai cooking class.
What are some of your most popular treatments?
We are committed to delivering effective results. We use professional quality skin-care products and offer the Guinot Hydradermie facial treatment. In addition to world-renowned brands, we are also proud of our local treatments such as a traditional Thai massage, and our Lanna Heritage Full Body Scrub Treatment which are very popular with our guests.

Which is your favourite treatment and why?
I really love our traditional Thai Massage because it is simple, but effective. Thai Massage does not require any equipment. It is as an old tradition and we just use our hands. Traditional Thai massage is part of our heritage. I used to give massages to my grandma, my mum and my dad when they felt tired from work. Most village kids in Thailand used to do that too. It is also a way to show gratitude to a person we love. When I grew up, I realised that it is very popular and practiced worldwide now too.

What do you like most about COMO Shambhala Retreat Phuket?
The spa is a lovely environment to work in, but the most inspiring part is the energy of our guests. Most of guests are repeat guests who enjoy the experiences and quality we are able to provide.
Please share your top tips for living a well life
I believe that a well life consists of three key elements; physical well-being, intellectual well-being, and spiritual well-being. Spiritual well-being is so important. It enables you to live with a peaceful mind through learning to control your mind and be in peace in all circumstances, both positive and negative. We should also take care of our physical well-being by eating healthy food and exercising regularly. Intellectual well-being can be achieved through meditation, reading, and even exploring new experiences.

What advice would you give a first time visitor to Phuket?
I think Phuket is convenient for travellers. We have an international airport which easily connects us to the world. The price is reasonable and there is still a local and authentic experience to be enjoyed here. I think a first time visitor really needs at least one week in Phuket to really experience what we’re all about. The first three days to explore Phuket Town and the local beaches such as Kamala, Karon, Kata, and Patong. and maybe enjoy a boat trip to the Phi Phi Islands or Phang Nga Bay and James Bond Island. The rest of the stay can be spent relaxing at your hotel. If you stay at COMO Point Yamu Phuket you can use the COMO Beach Club for swimming, kayaking and other outdoor activities.
