As part of ongoing efforts to streamline the travel experience and simplify entry and immigration procedures, Thailand has launched the THIM (Thailand Immigration Management) application. The app is part of Thailand’s wider digital transformation that aims to replace paper-based processes with digital services.

What is THIM?
THIM stands for Thailand Immigration Management. THIM is the official app of the Thailand Immigration Bureau and aims, in time, to become a comprehensive platform for Thailand immigration services. The THIM app is free to download but not compulsory.
Using the app, travellers can register their information digitally before arriving in Thailand. The THIM application is integrated with the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) system. This allows you to submit accommodation details and travel information in advance of your visit to Thailand.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)
The THIM app does not replace the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). Visitors to Thailand are still required to complete the TDAC. This can be done by completing the online form or via the new THIM app.

How does THIM work?
The THIM app is currently undergoing a soft launch and is expected to be fully live by August 2026. At the moment, the app only supports TDAC submissions. Once the app is fully up and running, more services should be added. The app is available for iOS and Android:
During the initial phase, THIM supports four languages: English, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian. More languages are expected to be added later.
Once downloaded, you can create an account and scan your passport using a mobile device. The system then automatically captures your information. On average, registrations should take less than three minutes.
To make it easier for families and small groups, the app supports group registration for up to 10 travellers at one time.
How secure is the app?
The THIM app has been developed by Digital Identity Co., Ltd in partnership with the Thailand Immigration Bureau. The system is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure hosted within the AWS Asia Pacific (Bangkok) Region. The platform ensures strict compliance with Thai data localisation laws. All personally identifiable information (PII) is kept within national borders.
What are the advantages of the THIM app?
At the moment, the app only supports TDAC submissions. However, it is expected to develop into a wider immigration platform, which should make for less bureaucracy and a smoother experience for all visitors. Future services may include:
- 90-day reporting (for long-stay visitors)
- Visa and extension applications
- Arranging in-person appointments
For urgent assistance, registered users can also contact the Tourist Police hotline through the app 24 hours a day.
