Thailand has introduced an online arrival form called the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). Regular travellers to Thailand will be familiar with the previous paper arrival cards (the TM6 form) that had to be filled out using a pen before entering Thailand.
The requirement to fill out the TM6 was suspended in June 2022. The new online process replaces the previous paperwork. Since 1 May 2025, all non-Thais entering Thailand by air, land, or sea must apply online for the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). The online system is similar to the entry process for countries like Malaysia and Singapore. There is no charge for the TDAC.
Who needs a TDAC?
Anyone who does not hold a Thai passport will need a TDAC. Whether you are a tourist visiting for a two-week holiday, an English teacher living and working in Bangkok or a European retiree living in Thailand, if you aren’t a Thai national, you need to apply for a Thailand Digital Arrival Card before you enter Thailand.
Exceptions for non-Thais are:
- Foreigners transiting or transferring in Thailand without going through immigration control (no TDAC required).
- Foreigners entering Thailand using a Border Pass.
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card is not a visa. Before you travel to Thailand, you must still ensure you qualify for visa exemption or have the appropriate visa for your stay.
How do I apply for a TDAC?
You can apply for the digital arrival card up to three days in advance of arriving in Thailand. If you have a smartphone/tablet/computer and can access wifi, you can also apply on arrival in Thailand before you queue to go through immigration.
Once you complete your details online, you will receive a QR code. Along with your passport, this QR code must be shown to the immigration officer when you arrive in Thailand. You can show the QR card on your smartphone/tablet or in a print-out.
