The classic family board game gets another Thai makeover with Monopoly: Bangkok Edition set to launch later in 2024. The Thai capital will become the third destination in Thailand to feature on the Monopoly board with Phuket and Chiang Mai editions already available. For the Bangkok version of the game, the likes of Mayfair and Leicester Square will be making way for the Grand Palace, Wat Arun and other famous Bangkok landmarks.
Monopoly: Bangkok Edition is a collaboration between the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Winning Moves UK. If you love Bangkok you still have a chance to provide your input on what should be included in the Monopoly: Bangkok Edition. Jake Houghton from Winning Moves said, “The game will be a celebration of Bangkok, of the street food, the culture, the landmarks and the stories. We want to hear what your favourite places are in Bangkok. Where do you visit locally? Where are the places you would take family and friends that are visiting Bangkok? We want to hear what is important in this community, no matter how big or small.”
If you have any suggestions, you can contact* the Winning Moves team via the Bangkok Edition Facebook page or email them at: email@example.com
(*Cut-off date to contact them is 25 February 2024).
Speaking on behalf of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mrs. Duangjai Kanteeranon said, “We are so excited to announce the launch of the Monopoly: Bangkok Edition in collaboration with Winning Moves. The development of the Bangkok edition marks a significant milestone in our partnership.
“The third Thailand-inspired game in the collection, we still firmly believe that creating these destination-focused editions provides a unique and fun platform to showcase Thailand’s diverse attractions, and we encourage our stakeholders to get involved to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
In addition to the launch of the Monopoly: Bangkok Edition, Winning Moves UK will also be releasing a Bangkok edition of the card game, Top Trumps. The cards will feature a selection of the Thai capital’s most-loved destinations and visitor attractions.
For the official announcement, Mr. Monopoly appeared at one of Bangkok’s best rooftop venues, King Power Mahanakhon. If you haven’t yet visited this skyscraper, make time on your next visit to Bangkok and enjoy some of the most memorable views in the city.
As soon as the Bangkok editions of Monopoly and Top Trumps are available for sale, we will add updates here letting you know where you can buy them online or in person. While you’re waiting for the Bangkok editions to be launched, check out the Chiang Mai and Phuket editions in the links here:
