Skywalks in Asia seem to be all the rage now, and Thailand is no exception. In recent years, several new skywalks have opened in Thailand to add to a range of existing viewpoints.

We’ve compiled a selection of some of our favourite skywalks in different regions of the country. From city views to mountain views to river views, this is our selection (shown in location alphabetical order) of some of the best skywalks in Thailand.

Bangkok

Benjakitti Forest Park
Proof that not all skywalks have to be towering above the ground, this elevated platform in the heart of Bangkok offers up stunning views of nature framed by the city skyline.

King Power Mahanakhon
The highest skywalk on our list is one of the shortest in terms of length, but one which is sure to get the adrenaline racing because of the glass bottom. Look down if you dare!

Doi Saket
Opened in January 2024, the Doi Saket skywalk is around a 30-minute drive northeast of Chiang Mai city at the serene temple of Wat Phra That Doi Saket.

Queen Sirikit Canopy Walkway
Part of the beautiful Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, this elevated walkway takes you above the forest canopy. With expansive views of the gardens, forest and mountains, the location is ideal for nature-lovers.

Chiang Rai

Chiang Saen
Located near the Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai province, this skywalk offers views of three countries. From Thailand, you can look across the Mekong River towards Laos in one direction and Myanmar (in the distance) in the other direction.

Chonburi

Khao Tabaek
Glass bottoms are a popular feature on many skywalks, and that is the case again with this elevated walkway in Chonburi province. Worth making a detour for if you are in Si Racha or en route to the island of Ko Si Chang, the skywalk is at the temple of Wat Khao Tabaek.

Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi city
Opened in 2022 and billed as the ‘Skywalk Over the River Kwai, this 12-metre-high and 150-metre-long walkway can be found in Kanchanaburi town. Situated on the banks of the Khwae Yai River, the skywalk is designed to give visitors a view of where two rivers — Khwae Yai and Khwae Noi — meet.

The second of Kanchanaburi’s skywalks is in a picturesque setting near Vajiralongkorn Dam in Khao Laem National Park.

Khon Kaen

Ad Lib Khon Kaen
Small but perfectly formed is an apt description of this skywalk in the heart of Khon Kaen city. Part of the award-winning Ad Lib Khon Kaen Hotel, the glass-bottomed skywalk extends far enough to thrill you while not being too scary if you’re not good with heights. After admiring the views, walk down a level and relax at the fabulous music venue, KaenKaew Live House.

Wat Doi Ti
Located in Lamphun province and easy to reach from Chiang Mai, Wat Doi Ti is notable not only for its skywalk but also for the giant statue of Kruba Srivichai. Revered in Northern Thailand, Kruba Srivichai (1878-1939) is known as the ‘engineer monk’ with one of his many projects being the construction of the road to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai.

Chiang Khan
With fabulous views looking out over the Mekong River towards Laos, the Phu Khok Ngio skywalk at Chiang Khan is in the northeast province of Loei. The skywalk is adjacent to the temple at Wat Chom Mani and also features a large Buddha image facing the Mekong.

Wat Pha Tak Seua
Another of Isaan’s scenic skywalks with views over the Mekong, this one is at the temple of Wat Pha Tak Seua in Nong Khai province.

Samet Nangshe
The dramatic limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay provide the stunning backdrop to this skywalk at Samet Nangshe. If you can’t get enough of this view, you can stay overnight at the hotel, Beyond Skywalk Nangshi.

Phu Lerd
If you’re travelling in Phetchabun province, enjoy the mountain views at Phu Lerd (also spelt Phu Loet). Combine the skywalk with a visit to the nearby Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew, one of the most photogenic temples in Isaan.

U Thong Ancient City
At 500 metres long, this is billed as the longest skywalk in Thailand. Hugging the mountainside in Suphanburi province, the skywalk is 32 metres high but visitors can take the lift from the bottom to the viewing platform.

Thung Khai Botanical Gardens
Make the short journey south from Trang Town to enjoy the greenery at Thung Khai Botanical Gardens (also known as Peninsula Botanic Garden). The gardens feature an elevated walkway that allows you to walk through the treetop canopies.

Yala

Aiyerwang
Arguably the most spectacular views of any skywalk in Thailand, Aiyerwang is a popular sunrise spot with Thai travellers coming here in the early morning to witness the sea of mist and sunrise. The skywalk is located near Betong Town in Yala province. However, UK travellers should note that Yala currently has a FCDO travel warning, with the UK government advising against all but essential travel to this province.
